At our break-up banquet in March, the Freshman, JV, and Varsity Red Raiders teams enjoyed a catered
meal courtesy of The Boosters at the Melrose VFW, and were fortunate to have the featured speaker, Coach Chuck Byrne, impact
a few words of wisdom to the teams. Attendence and spirits were high, as Supt, Casey, Athletic Director Pat Ruggiero, and
Mayor Dolan came to pay complements to our "improvements" in 2008-9.
Letters and certificates were given to all members of the team, and we thank them for their commitment
and enthusiasm shown to our basketball program. Award winnered were Seniors:
- Most Improved Player: Yancy Brown
- Best Offensive Player and All League: Jason Burke
- Coach's Award: Omar Barreento
- Most Valuable Player Award: Mike Lahiff
Also at the banquet, the captains were named for the 2009-10 season. Serving as Tri-Captains will be Garrett
Larsson, Darron Jones, and Andy Scocca.
