The philosophy of the Melrose High Schools boy’s Basketball Program is to extend the academic experience of our student-athletes with an enriching, team-oriented game that focuses on being a good teammate and playing the game of basketball properly.  Through a fundamental approach to learning the basics, we aspire to compete at a high level and be respectful to each other and our opponents, at all times. 

 

Another goal of our program is for our players to understand their roles on the team in order for us to achieve team success, above individual success.  If a player would like to discuss their role with the coach, he will be expected to do so before or after practice.  We believe that every player is equally important and will communicate this message consistently to them throughout the season.  For the sake of continuity, no coach in our program will discuss playing time or game strategies with parents.
